Yvonne Fair

Yvonne Fair was an American soul singer known for her bold personality, commanding stage presence, and powerful, expressive voice. Born in Richmond, Virginia, she began her career performing in the early 1960s and soon became associated with the dynamic world of Southern soul and R&B.

Fair gained wider recognition through her work within the circle of James Brown, with whom she collaborated and toured during the height of his influence on funk and soul music. In the 1970s she joined Motown Records, where she recorded with some of the label’s top producers and musicians.
