Roy Brown

American R&B singer-songwriter and musician Roy Brown was highly influential in the initial development of rock ‘n’ roll, altering the direction of rhythm & blues particularly with the song “Good Rockin’ Tonight”, which he wrote while starting out singing in clubs. The song got him signed and an R&B hit in 1948. It has since been covered by Wynonie Harris, Elvis Presley, James Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis and many other great artists. Brown’s other hits include “Rockin’ at Midnight”, “Hard Luck Blues” and “Love Don’t Love Nobody”.
