Piero Umiliani

Italian composer Piero Umiliani is credited with helping form the style of the jazz influenced film soundtrack in Europe during the 1960s and 1970s. His most well known composition is “Mah Na Mah Na.” It was originally used for an Italian Mondo documentray about Sweden called “Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso”. However, it is best known as a song popularised by The Muppets, who first sang it on hit children’s show “Seasame Street” in 1969. It was used again on “The Muppets Show” in 1977 and released as a single that went to No.8 on the UK singles chart the same year.
