A bold, brassy powerhouse of sound. Anthems of fierce love, strength, and vulnerability that make you want to get up and move. Mama Haze is a musical act that is forceful and full of soul with a throwback feel that’s still contemporary and a front woman that’s a little bit Ella Fitzgerald and a little bit Joan Jett and lot of attitude.
Led by singer-songwriter Meaghan Maples, soul courses through Mama Haze’s bloodstream. Growing up in the Bay Area, the budding songstress, Maples, split her time between singing in church and being the neighborhood emcee. Galvanized by the likes of Billie Holiday, Dolly Parton, and Lauryn Hill, she followed in their footsteps and developed a style that’s all her own with her band Mama Haze. Maples produced Mama Haze’s debut album Honey with close friend and producer Jordan Frye (Urban Rescue) as well as Tim Myers (One Republic). Every song comes from a place of passion, struggle, and celebration.
Mama Haze has been in the studio for the last six months working on a new EP that is set to be released in the Summer of 2019. With the recent Target Spring campaign placement of “Werk It” and four new music videos on the way, this Spring is shaping up to be funky fun that’s a little bit extra.
