Carroll Gibbons and The Savoy Hotel Orpheans

American-born musician, bandleader and composer Carroll Gibbons went to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music and would settle in London to have a promient career as a bandleader in the British dance band era of the 1920s and 1930s. He was leader of the Savoy Orpheans and the New Mayfair Orchestra. He made trips back to the US, working as staff composer for MGM films in Hollywood in the early 30s.
