ROUND HILL MUSIC ACQUIRES TRIUMPH, WARRANT AND TESLA COPYRIGHTS

New York-born rights company Round Hill Music has acquired the rights to a valuable run of ’80s hard rock catalogues.

The company, which was founded in 2010 by CEO Josh Gruss in tandem with Richard Rowe and Neil Gillis, tends to specialize in publishing copyrights – but this time, it’s playing in the world of masters.

For starters, Round Hill has obtained the entire recording catalogue of Canadian power rock trio, Triumph.

Consisting of band members Rik Emmett, Mike Levine and Gil Moore, Triumph have earned 18 gold and 9 platinum sales awards in Canada and the United States, with Top 40 hits including “Lay It On The Line”, “Magic Power” and “Hold On”.

Josh Gruss, CEO, Round Hill Music, said: “In the 42 years since Triumph first got together in 1975, they have developed a fan base that is loyal and worldwide, with sales of more than 15 million units and counting.

“We intend to keep that going and breathe new life into the catalog. Re-issues, vinyl, special editions, expect all that and more. Given that the Triumph body of work contains a wealth of classic rock songs from the 70’s and 80’s, our team will be aggressively pursuing sync opportunities, an area that has not been exploited in the past. I want to thank Rik, Mike and Gil for their faith in us.”

Triumph’s Mike Levine said: “Triumph couldn’t be more excited than we are with the move to Round Hill – Josh Gruss and his team are progressive and vibrant. We are looking forward to working with everyone there and keeping the Rock&Roll Machine firing on all cylinders.”

In addition, Round Hill has acquired the publishing catalogue – as well as certain master rights – to the estate of Jani Lane, the original lead singer and songwriter in the band Warrant.

To date Warrant have sold over 8 million records worldwide, with Lane penning anthems such as “Heaven” and “Cherry Pie” which were both Billboard Top 10 hits.

Other Top 40 singles include, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, “I Saw Red” and “Down Boys”.

JOSH GRUSS, ROUND HILL
“Round Hill is honored to have acquired the catalog of Jani Lane, a genius songwriter who left this world too soon, but whose music will live on forever,” added Gruss.

“We appreciate very much that Jani’s estate has entrusted Round Hill with this catalog. Warrant’s music was the hallmark of 80’s hair metal and their songs are still played on radio and used on TV and ads, all the time. Although without Jani, Jerry Dixon and Erik Turner carry on the Warrant legacy with amazing live shows. We intend to play our part with carrying on the legacy with more syncs and exposure to the Warrant catalog.”

Finally, Round Hill has also purchased additional components to Tesla’s catalogue, including certain master rights.

This comes in addition to Round Hill’s acquisition of Tesla’s publishing catalogue in 2014.

The acquisitions represent some of the band’s most famous work including ’80s power ballad “Love Song” and other hits, such as “Comin’ Atcha Live”, “Modern Day Cowboy”, “Signs” and “The Way it Is.”

Tesla are currently on an arena tour with Def Leppard and Poison.

“That I have seen Tesla perform to sold out arenas, in Long Island as a kid in1989 and just recently in Nashville in 2017 is a testament to the endurance and lasting-ness to the band and their songs,” said Gruss. “Their music has completely stood the test of time. I’m very proud to call the guys in Tesla my friends and that they have entrusted Round Hill with more of their music rights.”

Headquartered in New York with offices in Los Angeles and Nashville, Round Hill Music’s catalogue includes songs recorded and performed by The Beatles, Eddie Holland, Neil Sedaka, The Rolling Stones, The Offspring, Dallas Davidson, Bruno Mars, Cee Lo Green, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Bon Jovi, Steve Perry, Louis Armstrong, Tina Turner, Ella Fitzgerald, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Buckcherry, Mötley Crüe, Daughtry, Bush, Josh Kear, Michael Bolton, Percy Sledge, and Katy Perry.

Round Hill has also signed exclusive publishing deals and joint partnerships with music companies including record label Mexican Summer and original music house Bosshouse Music, as well as Big Loud Shirt Industries, Big Loud Bucks, and Feel Music Group.

Its signed songwriters and producers include Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Carrie Underwood), singer/songwriter Wade Kirby (Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, George Straight), and Jimmy Robbins (Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum).

Songs in the company’s catalogue include “All of Me”, “She Loves You”, “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Living in America”, “Land Of 1000 Dances”, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”, “Stop! In The Name of Live”, “Bye, Bye, Bye”, “Waking Up in Vegas”, “Video Killed the Radio Star”, “Calendar Girl”, “Doin’ What She Likes”, “That’s the Way It Is”, “Inside Your Heaven”, “That’s What I Want for Christmas”, “Oh Sherrie”, “Jaded”, “When a Man Loves a Woman”, “In The Meantime”, “Forget You”, “Undo It”, “Just The Way You Are”, “Cruise”, “Billionaire”, “One Day”, “Save the Best for Last”, “Marry You”, “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” and “Best Day of My Life”.Music Business Worldwide
